Why More and More People Are Going to Online Schools

Online Education: Back to School the Millennial WaySince 2008, the United States has seen a total collapse of a viable job market. Everyday, people are laid off, business are shut down, and the only thing left is a bunch of educated people who are without jobs. Some have opened businesses, some have volunteered, and others are going back to school; online school. What is an Online Education?Online education or E-Learning, is a system of education that has the student log into a system and listen, read, or watch lectures without being within a classroom. The system works by having students log in with a user name and password, and then are logged by how many times they log on. Some classes require a student to be present at a certain time of the day, but most generally allow students to log on-and-off as they please; flexibility is what attracts so many students. Why is it Becoming Popular? As people get pushed out of their current jobs, some have taken the time to reevaluate their current educational and financial situation: maybe this job was not the right fit. Getting laid off pushes people on a new path; unable to hide behind the job they dislike. In times of recession, people may decide to reenter class in order to study the subjects they enjoyed. Whether it’s learning about a vocation, or an entirely different profession, going back to school gives people not only the ability to step back and breathe a little easier, but it also gives them a chance to remake themselves, so that when they graduate, they can access work they enjoy. Why Not Go Back To College? Many are attracted to Online Education because it allows people to receive a cheap and flexible education. As long as the student logs on a certain number of times and follows the syllabus, a student not only gets a decent education, but at a much lower price. On top of that, many, especially older people, may feel uncomfortable returning to a college campus or night school as they may feel embarrassed or too old.
